The Tractor Factor

Last time I told you that I'd seen a lot of old tractors standing about on farms, in fields and in gardens. Here's what they were all getting ready for: The Cambridgeshire Vintage Tractor Club Charity Road Run with proceeds going to the National Health Service in gratitude for the marvellous work they continue to do at this difficult time. The tractors made their way through about a dozen local villages including my home village, which is where I photographed them.

And there they go!

There were around one hundred tractors on the Road Run. Everyone was keen to take part since most of the events they attend every summer are not taking place this year. The type of machines on show largely reflected what was used on farms around here back in my childhood.

Take care

  17. Something comic about old tractors, I don't know why. They always bring a smile to my face. British eccentricity...

  18. Wow! Awesome photos! I loved seeing all the different tractors. It's amazing to see how many different faces one item (tractor) can have. Each one seems to have a style all its own. Thank you for bringing the show to us. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

  23. I have a new young farmer friend (he recently did some garden work for us) who is tractor crazy and is buying a vintage model for he and his bride-to-be to ride on to their wedding next year! He also owns draught horses, and rides bucking broncos in competition. Has purchased 27 acres where he will build
a new home/farm. He's a delightful young man with his own landscaping business - all this at just 23. He grew up on his daddy's farm - enough said!
Thanks for the fun tractor ride John.

  24. I like tractors, especially the old ones. A few years ago, at one of our village fairs, we had a tractor rally, there were some beauties, and a couple were over 70 years old.
