Calendar Time

Those of you who've been following this blog for a while will be familiar with my yearly collection of photos - one from each month - that usually sees the light of day each December. If I'm a little early this year it's because I have a slight cold at present and it's horrible outside. So grab a cup of tea and a mince pie and drift through the year with me. Starting in....

A Wildlife Calendar For 2023

Usually at this time of year I compile a "calendar" of photos taken during the last year, but with no photos taken between August and November that's not going to work this time. So I've delved back a bit further into the past to present you with pictures of some of the wildlife seen around here.

January
Fallow Deer buck at Holkham

February
Great Spotted Woodpecker at Meldreth

March
Grey Seals at Horsey, N Norfolk

April
Little Egret at Melwood

May
Grey Squirrel, just outside my window

June

August
Very young Moorhens, Wicken Lode

September

October
Green Sandpiper at RSPB Rye Meads

A Calendar For 2022

It's become something of an annual habit of mine to trawl back through my photos at this time of year and make an imaginary calendar from the shots I deem most suitable. Apart from December's picture, all of them were taken during the last year.

January

A cottage that was once one of many pubs in my village. Now there's just one.
This was taken early one January morning.

February

Snowdrops in my local wood.

March

Out on Wicken Fen, Konik ponies are used for conservation grazing.

April

Bluebells grow wild in Hitch Wood, Hertforshire.

May

Hatfield Forest, buttercups in the meadows.

June

Cricket on the green in Barrington.

July

The "Foggy Bottom" garden at Bressingham.

August

Heather blooming on Roydon Common in north Norfolk.

September

Fishing boats on the beach at Aldeburgh.

October

Knettishall Heath in Suffolk.

November

Sunlight catches a lone tree on one of my morning walks.

December

Ely Cathedral at Christmas time.

Lets hope for a good year in 2022.

Take care.

A Country Calendar

It's that time of year when we look back over the last year and forward to the next. And it's become something of a habit of mine to scrape together some of my favourite photos to present as a kind of virtual calendar. This year most of the images (for reasons of which we're all too well aware) were taken within walking distance of my house and all of them are from the countryside.

Lets hope that next year we can start to venture a little further from home.

Take care.

A Calendar For 2020

It's become a regular tradition for me to rummage through my photographs at this time of year to find twelve that might make a calendar for the next year. It seems to get harder every year as things don't always occur as you'd expect - no snow in January and autumn colurs coming later and later each year. Anyway these are the ones I came up with...

Take care (and all the best for next year of course).
