Pictures of a river,
its shimmering, beckoning call,
its quiet, still moments,
and its rushing turmoil.
Where things may grow
and things are shed.
But still it surges quietly forward.
We gently float on its surface,
or we struggle in the deluge,
till we reach a standstill
never quite aware of how beautiful it really is.
Take care.
it is indeed beautiful (and serene). I like the 'where things may grow' photograph too John. Sweet post.
ReplyDeleteI love this beautiful, poetic metaphor of one’s whole life. My favorites are the 6th and the last image. I made a bookmark to this post so that I can return. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Poetry, John.
ReplyDeletewonderful! So beautiful and poetic.
ReplyDeleteWonderful scenes and beautiful words, John. I have no favourites, - they are all lovely and touching. What a beautiful world....I watched a memorial to Neil Armstrong at the Washington National Cathedral (via the net) and his words about the earth receding from him as he traveled in space until it was just a blue dot that contained so much of humanity and beauty and life.
ReplyDeleteRich, reflective, refreshing, restful. Thanks for a great post.
ReplyDeleteExquisite photographs John - there is a book there - Water and its Reflections - get out there again and take some more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful way to end my workweek. They are all amazing, and absolutely love the 'rushing turmoil' shot! Thank you and hope your weekend is also restful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, you're a true artist. Poetry in pictures.
ReplyDeleteStunning shots ....encompassing all the feelings that the water of the river conveys.
ReplyDeleteIf ever a post has deserved the title "Autumn Leaves" it is this one!
ReplyDeleteAwesome John, simply awesome! Thank you for sharing your delightful images and wonderful words to accompany them!
ReplyDeleteVery nice blog
ReplyDeleteand good post
greetings from my blog joanca
I disagree with your conclusion. You definitely ARE aware of how beautiful it is.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and inspiring sequence of photos!
ReplyDeleteYour green reflections are strangely reminiscent of my travels in Australia's Top End! But then our paths diverge most fabulously as you take me to such paradise!!
ReplyDeleteIn enjoying your images, John, I often try to figure out why I can't capture images so beautiful. I think it's because (1) you're a true artist and I'm not, and (2) I'm just "wound too tightly" and too over-committed to spend the time I'd need to really study (and appreciate) the world like you do. So, I'll just appreciate, again and again, your skill and perception. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous! I feel like I have been there too, through your eyes :^)
ReplyDeleteA perfect set John.
ReplyDeleteSublime series of images John. Divine 'Monet' like reflections in the first shot, would make a lovely painting.
ReplyDeleteThese exquisite images fair take my breath away John! That 5th from last shot looks like the water is pouring over a waterfall in the front of the scene. Wonderful stuff!
