Waterlines

Pictures of a river,
its shimmering, beckoning call,

its quiet, still moments,

and its rushing turmoil.

Where things may grow

and things are shed.

But still it surges quietly forward.

We gently float on its surface,

or we struggle in the deluge,

till we reach a standstill

never quite aware of how beautiful it really is.

Take care.

  2. I love this beautiful, poetic metaphor of one’s whole life. My favorites are the 6th and the last image. I made a bookmark to this post so that I can return. Thanks for this post.

  4. Wonderful scenes and beautiful words, John. I have no favourites, - they are all lovely and touching. What a beautiful world....I watched a memorial to Neil Armstrong at the Washington National Cathedral (via the net) and his words about the earth receding from him as he traveled in space until it was just a blue dot that contained so much of humanity and beauty and life.

  15. Your green reflections are strangely reminiscent of my travels in Australia's Top End! But then our paths diverge most fabulously as you take me to such paradise!!

  16. In enjoying your images, John, I often try to figure out why I can't capture images so beautiful. I think it's because (1) you're a true artist and I'm not, and (2) I'm just "wound too tightly" and too over-committed to spend the time I'd need to really study (and appreciate) the world like you do. So, I'll just appreciate, again and again, your skill and perception. Thanks.

  18. Sublime series of images John. Divine 'Monet' like reflections in the first shot, would make a lovely painting.

  19. These exquisite images fair take my breath away John! That 5th from last shot looks like the water is pouring over a waterfall in the front of the scene. Wonderful stuff!
