At The Heart Of The Community

I see that I've accumulated enough village signs to present you with another collection. I'm not sure when these started to appear but I began to notice them about thirty years ago, though then they were a rarity. Now just about every village and a few small towns have some kind of sign, either carved from wood or constructed with some fancy metalwork, illustrating their history and civic pride.

Take care.

  5. There are some talented design artists out there, sharing a sample of their work for all to see, and to represent their communities! Yay artists!

  7. Interesting signs. On occasion I see town signs on this side of the pond, but they are infrequent and not as creative.

  8. I watched them enlarged, they show so much and each sign has a story to tell. They are beautiful and detailed. The one from Wolferton seems a bit threatening though ;)

  9. I've not really noticed many up here. Maybe it's a trend that will spread.

  15. I like these old signs. I think about the people who made them, depicting life as it was then.
I’m in the process of collecting some of the many in my area. I hope they didn’t have wolves that large in Wolferton!
