Just a brief post to show you a few of the wildflowers - and the tameflowers - that have detained me in my recent travels. First of all, that field of peonies is coming into bloom once again.....
A few more turns of the bicycle pedals brings me to an area where the wild ox-eye daisies flourish...

ReplyDeleteI am not a great lover of peonies although those colours are stunning and en masse they must look amazing. But ox-eye daisies are to die for.

ReplyDeleteOx-eye daisies shout "Summer!" and remind me of carefree days as a child. Daisies are blooming here, but unfortunately there are no large fields of them nearby.

ReplyDeleteWe have large fields of daisies here too, and recently saw a field of grass and wild digitalis pendleton. So pretty. But a field of peonies? It boggles the mind! I can imagine how sweet the aroma must have been, probably filling the air.

ReplyDeleteThey are a commercial crop, mostly sold through florists, but there's always more than they are able to harvest. They've also sold some on a pick-your-own basis some years.

ReplyDeleteYou captured these flowers so beautifully, John. I liked both the closeups (macros) and the low-angle shots. Also the use of a larger lens opening created a wonderfully soft out-of-focus image, which I believe others refer to as "bokah.".
