Just four pictures taken on a recent foggy morning, all within a few hundred yards along a local footpath:
We haven't had much music on the blog lately, but we'll remedy that right now. Chris Wood is one of the quiet men of English folk music. He sings new songs and old traditional ones too, but this is a poem by Frank Mansell, the Cotswold poet, which has been set to music. Lets listen to "The Cottager's Reply"....
Take care.
Lovely foggy photos. The video didn't show here but I found it. Most enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. I've changed the video of the song to one that will hopefully work worldwide.
DeleteYes, video there now and works. Thanks
DeleteBrilliant, both the photos and the poem from Frank Mansell, not forgetting the singer in true traditional style.
ReplyDeleteLove those moody, mistical and mystical shots.
ReplyDeleteEven a foggy morning has charm!
ReplyDeleteA misty start to the morning is often followed by blue skies and sunshine. The first photo is lovely - it would make a wonderful setting for Midsummer Night's Dream.
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to similar fog today. I like these shots because it has both clearer places as well as off in the fog ones.
ReplyDeleteThank you John - this song truly made me think a lot about my own 'cottage' here, especially why my hubby won't sell up and move to a condo!!! He's out there now watering the newly re-seeded grass until it germinates, meanwhile I'm here wondering, as I do each day, how to downsize and alleviate myself of things to dust and polish - because my right leg is killing me and I can't bend too well at present!!!! We may not have fields and badgers, but we have so much so be thankful for all around us, so will most likely stay and shoo the would-be buyers away for similar reasons as this charming folk song notes.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile your photos today - so lovely all. The first is my favorite though - a Constable painting comes to mind, so English. I've just started my next John Lewis-Stempel book, 'THE WOOD', and the descriptions of the trees are beautiful.
Stop by my current post - my 'gift' is for gals and guys - you might want to join in if your country walks require a neck warmer for the coming winter days!
Happy day - Mary
