A Dream Of Bluebells
As I grow older birthdays come around with depressing regularity, but there are other seasonal events that I still anticipate with something approaching excitement. For instance, I start to think about the bluebell season from the day I see my first snowdrops; probably because they occur in a similar woodland environment. Hertfordshire is particularly well supplied with bluebell woods - and yes, from time to time I do dream about them!
Here are my bluebell pictures for this year, some more real than others.....
Take care.
These capture the magic perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful. Something like the same wonder that occurs when bluebonnets appear in Texas. Sadly we only have "imported" blue wildflowers around here. Blue is fascinating in nature. You've got something happening with your lens, or perhaps photo editing!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are lovely. Amazing how thickly they grow in the forest.
ReplyDeleteBut all equally beautiful. How could it be otherwise with that exquisite blue.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful bluebell tribute!
ReplyDeleteI find it difficult to pick a favorite. I could easily get lost in those woods. That last one looks like a Monet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful season of bluebells you have there. Love these photos, the real and the not-so real.
ReplyDeleteDazzling and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi John - 'a dream' of bluebells = a great idea for a collective noun. I just love them ... as the swathes of blues tie in with the sprouting greenery and other colours as Spring springs. Great photos too ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Both real and abstract are too gorgeous John, the last shot is like a wonderful painting 💜
ReplyDeleteHow dreamy and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to capture that wonderful blue but you have done so perfectly, I love the effects you have created with some of the photos, it adds to the mystical and magical quality they have when you see them spread before you:)
ReplyDeleteSome interesting effects there!
ReplyDeletemagnifique sous-bois !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and dream like. The last one is my favourite, it's dreamy and looks like a painting.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy birthday, whether that's now or you were just saying... :)
No, not yet, but it won't be long!
DeleteBeautiful bluebells.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Gorgeous! I like the fun photo-edits. Love photo #2... winding footpath amongst the bluebells!
ReplyDeleteI really can't quite believe that such beautiful woods exist!
ReplyDeleteYou are right about birthdays. I am not quite sure why we continue to celebrate them as we get closer and closer to death.
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful John. I have a memory of a bluebell wood close to home growing up on the Surrey, Sussex, Kent border but somehow I think my mind may have embellished it over the many years
ReplyDeleteCould there be anything more beautiful than an English bluebell wood? I have to see them every year, and their first sighting always takes my breath away. These images are really up lifting. Did you by any chance take them in Hitch Wood?
ReplyDeleteI would think that over half the photos were taken in Hitch Wood, though my walk also took in several other woods in the area which are almost as good for bluebells.
DeleteI think I love these as much as I love my Virginia bluebells...abducted some of these shots have a dreamlike quality!
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish there were bluebell woods near here! Those pictures are really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, just like their name.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful blue - the colours of spring are so tenderly brilliant (if that is possible..)
ReplyDeleteBritish Bluebell wood is my longing. Magical blue! The color goes well with the light green of the new born leaves. Your way of capturing them is so superb.
