The glasshouses at the Cambridge University Botanic Gardens cater for a range of plants from very different parts of the world. One of the most interesting at this time of year is the Mountain House. The plants are mostly tiny-but-perfect little bouquets of colour, some in pots and some in more natural settings.
The different climatic houses are arranged off of a long corridor which is also full of exotic blooms. In order to get to the Alpines it was necessary to duck under the spectacular blossom of the Sandpaper Palm or Queen's Wreath (petrea volubilis).
Take care.
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the middle of a snowstorm so this post was a welcome reminder of spring!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for new growth.
ReplyDeleteYou found lots of beautiful colour, John.
ReplyDeleteThis place looks wonderful. I love the idea of a collection of alpine flora. The small, delicate looking flowers are quite beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA lovely and bright mix of photos :) Very cheerful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great composite of colorful blooms, so welcome this time of year as spring (here at least) struggles to come forth.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous and gorgeous again! A glasshouse is what is missing in our Botanical Gardens John.. although I'm not sure how a glasshouse would cope with 38C ☺
ReplyDeleteThe blue in that third picture down John is absolutely breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteExpressive colours. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeing in a very grey workplace all day, I needed that dose of colour
