The End Of The Year Show

The morning of December 31, 2014, was spent rambling around Amwell Nature Reserve in Hertfordshire. Here are some photos:

The sun attempting to battle its way through the early morning mist

Down on the River Lea Navigation nothing stirs

Searching for birds....

Ah, there's one!
This little Robin hopped on to the fence
right in front of me,
just begging to have his picture taken.

Time for a walk to try to warm up.

Exploring the valley of the River Ash

A frosty Teasel seedhead

The beautiful little River Ash

Back to the Lea Navigation

The thaw begins

Sunshine at last.
A cheerful omen for the year to come, perhaps.

That's all for 2014.
Now I really must fly!

Take care.

  23. The tone of your words were fun -- especially when you stated "now I must really fly." Your accompanying winged bird photo fulfilled your words. We call your frost -- a hoary frost here -- it really is quite beautiful. Looking forward to more of your wonderful posts in the new year -- barbara

  27. Glad I came back for a second look at your photos John. They truly are a treat for the eyes. I wanted also to thank you for your latest comment and to say that this place in my header was Widecombe-in-the-Moor? We visited on my last trip to Devon and I will be sharing a post about it sometime soon.

  30. I really enjoyed your version of quiet beauty of winter. The mist made the scenes more atmospheric. Is the encounter with the lovely bright-colored Robin the simple result of serendipity? I look forward to seeing how you fly in 2015 with your inner wings to fly.
