Last night the heroic men of Cambridge held the mighty Manchester United to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup. To say this was unexpected and unlikely is putting it mildly. A few facts:
Home Ground: Manchester United - Old Trafford, capacity 75,731
Cambridge United - Abbey Stadium, capacity 8,127
FA Cup winners: Manchester United - 11 times
Cambridge United - never
League Champions: Manchester United - 20 times
Cambridge United - never
Most paid for a player : Manchester United - Angel Di Maria £59,700,000
Cambridge United - Steve Claridge £190,000
And this is the sight which greeted the multi-millionaires of Manchester when they arrived to play Cambridge...
Take care.
Wouldn't it be a dream come true if they won on the re-play?
ReplyDeleteA fantastic result last night!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to Cambridge United with the replay!
haha, go Cambridge. I don't follow football at all, I live under a rock most of the time, I didn't even know there was a match but I love it when the big teams get beaten or at least held by the little ones!
ReplyDeleteSo is there betting allowed? I'll go with a longshot and clean house.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a sports fan at all, but this post is wonderful! Go Cambridge!
ReplyDeleteI'm smiling!!
ReplyDeleteMe too I'm smiling John.. go Cambridge! They must have been OVER THE MOON, such a treat for them and for the fans :) I seriously think Manchester needed to be put down a peg or two and your boys were the ones to do it!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a huge victory! Congrats to Cambridge!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do understand competition in sports. In the USA it is almost over the top I would say. Nice that Cambridge won. -- barbara
