Wintergarden
As promised in the last post we're heading today for the Winter Garden, part of the University of Cambridge Botanic Garden. This year, thanks to our bizarrely mild winter, there are spring flowers blooming in February - in fact many were on flower in January or even back in December.

What an amazing series of photos.
ReplyDeleteSo many striking features found in one place, in one day! To take one photo like this would make me very happy. :)
Irises are out too here, great shot of one, so vivid. Also periwinkle in bloom now
ReplyDeleteAhh....lovely! I like the photo with the gnarly branches!
ReplyDeleteAll quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA nice series. I need to try that. Well done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - I especially love the one called 'light' - such great colour, detail and focus!
ReplyDeleteOh my, it is so miserable here today, and your photos are a positive delight and pick-me-up, John. What a lovely visit you must have had, - sigh.....
ReplyDeletewhat beautiful photographs! It's not easy to capture landscapes and gardens on film. Your details are precise.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of photos! Must be a nice place, and this year the weather is crazy!
ReplyDeleteJohn -- what a great way to pull all your fine photos together with your one word descriptors -- perfect! -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine seeing flowers in a garden this time of year/ It boggles my mind.
ReplyDeleteYour winter must have been even milder than ours so far. Great series, I am impressed by the colours!
ReplyDeleteI am glad we are not voting for a favorite...I would have a hard time choosing. You have some wonderful photos here.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I especially like the snowdrops in the bergenia.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely series, John. Not exactly what we expect in February from Britain, but that is the crazy world we live in.
ReplyDeleteThat is surprising, so many in bloom... seems we didn't get but about 1 week of below freezing weather, a couple skiffs of snow and now some things are beginning to bloom and leaf out...
ReplyDeleteWINTER Garden !! :)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely flowers and plants, they makes me hope the spring time will come soon here after all snow.
Seeing as we're being frugal with words John.. BRILLIANT!! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, especially the Hellebore, a favourite of mine
ReplyDeleteHow great to find such wonderful beauty in winter!
ReplyDeleteThe Hellebore is my favourite if I had to choose, I don't have to thankfully as they are all wonderful!
ReplyDeleteA great set of cheering images John!
Hardly seems to be winter from the looks of your beautiful photos. Everything is blooming early here in the US South, also.
ReplyDeleteoh John, absolutely beautiful. Do you enter photography competitions?
ReplyDeleteAll lovely but the snowdrops against the red backdrop are sublime.
