More Woodland Scenes

A few more shots from when I was "lost in the woods".

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”

"Travel and society polish one, but a rolling stone gathers no moss,
and a little moss is a good thing on a man."
John Burroughs

"All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous unpremeditated act
 without benefit of experience."
Henry Miller

“To dwellers in a wood, almost every species of tree has its voice as well as its features.”
Thomas Hardy

"Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence."
Yoko Ono

"If only one could tell true love from false love
as one can tell mushrooms from toadstools"
Katherine Mansfield

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower"
Albert Camus

"Not for a moment, beautiful aged Walt Whitman,
have I failed to see your beard full of butterflies"
Federico Garcia Lorca

"Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are."
Bertold Brecht

“I could dance with you till the cows come home.
Better still, I'll dance with the cows till you come home."
Groucho Marx.

Take care.

  1. Okay, you got me with the little pink mushroom. We had one day of rain recently which may bring forth a few of those cuties.

  2. Great photos and I like the quotations you used alongside them.

  3. All these photos are lovely “Anthem to Autumn”! My favorite photos are No. 4 and 6 and my favorite words is Thomas Hardy’s.

  4. It's a delight to see autumn there. Quite rich in colors and absolutely beautiful. Our autumn colors and light are fading quickly now. Soon bare branches against winter skies.

  5. Lovely feeling of the details of Autumn. And I'm snaffling your George Eliot quotation!

  6. Autumn is the loveliest of seasons .... and what a wonderful place to loose yourself.

  7. a very special light in every one of these--love the quotes with them

do you mind if I ask what kind of camera you use?

  8. Very lyrical - obviously an uplifting experience.

  9. Groucho Marx hahaha! Brilliant series of autumn images John...wild fungi in the woods..what no fairies :)

  10. Love Groucho Marx anytime. Autumn seems to be many people's favorite season - not hard to see why!

  11. Nice images of woodlands -- I especially like the Marx words of dancing with the cows. -- barbara

  12. Thanks to everyone who commented on what were really just left-over shots from my earlier post.

  13. Autumn is my favourite time of year ... I loved the cluster of fungi, and got a laugh from Groucho's quote; cheers John
