My walk ended up on familiar, well-trodden paths - though there's always something different to see and photograph. The title has rather given the game away: a flock of raggle-taggle sheep are grazing Shepreth Moor and there's a magnificent tangle of weeds on the poppy field. So with no further ado.....
"Hey, I ain't no sheeps!"
Take care.
(the brown, slightly mad-looking, animals
are Manx Loghtan sheep and lambs, originally from the Isle of Man,
kept mainly for their value as conservation grazers)
As usual, another brilliant post to cheer up my Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteYour weed photos are perfection, and I love those Manx Loghtan sheep and their lambs.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I could feel the tension ooze out of my shoulders as I scrolled up and down.
ReplyDeleteSheep are so photogenic, the weeds simply beautiful
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos:)
ReplyDeleteThe weeds only have that pejorative association because silly humans have decided that they are less desirable than other plants. We actually do that with people don't we. I always think it such a shame that they have to mutilate the ears of domestic livestock in this manner, but the practice is universal.
ReplyDeleteHi John - great to see this conservation effort. I noted in 2017 that the Manx Loagthan is the closest relative to the now extinct Jersey sheep - where they've now been reintroduced to help with coastal grazing ... and they're linked to choughs being able to thrive on coastal areas. Gorgeous photos - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at that fifth photo! Priceless. The wildflowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAs usual a beautiful and informative post. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks, John. I enjoyed that immensely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk among the sheep and weeds. Loved these photo, especially how the sheep posed so beautifully for you.
ReplyDeleteMost interesting sandwiched photos! And you proved to be a master off humor in your last shot. Thanks for the chuckle!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, even the cow made your line-up. :)
ReplyDeleteA fun post, John.
ReplyDeleteI could never choose just one favorite...not even one I like a little less than the others.
ReplyDeleteThese critters are photogenic.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mix of flora and fauna.
ReplyDeleteLove the sheep pics!
ReplyDeleteMad crazy looking sheep!
ReplyDeleteWe have just caught up on your last two posts, John. Wonderful photos as always.
ReplyDeleteWith all these photos, you made me feel like that I stepped into a fairytale. Manx Loghtan sheep and lambs are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure which I preferred more, John, the sheep or the weeds as both were interesting. I liked the eyes of the sheep but more so the beauty of the weeds, which are really misunderstood wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the weed could be so beautiful! I like the portraits. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBuenos retratos de animales, parecen como si quisieran posar para tu cámara. Me encanta la vegetación que ha fotografiado, siendo de esas fotos mi preferida la número 6, el buen fondo que tiene, hace resaltar la planta.
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers photos, they are awesome. And the sheets are cutes. And also the cow, my favorite animal. Greetings from "orvokki".
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos!!!!! Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photographs of the local Flora and Fauna.
ReplyDeleteYour flower photos are so beautiful! You have taken your photography to another level lately. And of course I love seeing the goat and sheep as well.
ReplyDeleteMind blowing pictures
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos!
