I've also glimpsed, as I wander near my home, another of those completely red fields of poppies. I've gone to the trouble of taking compass bearings and plotting them on a map, only to find that there are no public roads of paths within a mile of it, so no chance of photographing that one.

If you're suffering from too much summer heat in your part of the world then I hope you'll manage to keep cool any way you can....
Take care.
Hi John - gorgeous poppies and love the ducks = fun ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI love these shots, especially the last one! :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos -- I love the red poppies in other lands -- we have the orange/yellow ones called "California poppies," which are lovely, too, but a little 'oh-hum' after seeing them all my life. Those ducks have the right idea.
ReplyDeleteWe grow California Poppies in our gardens here and consider them very exotic!
DeleteBeautiful photos, love the all the colour. Those are some cool ducks. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteA field of poppies is a joy to behold. I expect that you had the ducks move over a little so that you could dip your feet in the water!
ReplyDeleteThe poppies in the field of white are show-offs!
ReplyDeleteAnd I will take everyone you want to show...they just sing with beauty.
ReplyDeleteTo be surrounded by poppies is like heaven, I would think. My favorite (wild) flower.
ReplyDeleteI think the poppies are gorgeous, sweet photograph of the ducks.
ReplyDeleteStay as cool as you can in this present hot weather.
All the best Jan
The poppies are lovely and go very well with the daisies. In our neck of the woods, they used to spray herbicide on the side of the roads to keep the weeds down. There was enough of an outcry that now they just mow it a couple of times during the summer. So now we have many more wildflowers to enjoy as we drive and walk along the roads. The milkweed is coming back and last year and this year the monarch butterflies have returned after a very long absence.
ReplyDeleteOur summer has been very pleasant. Sunny and not overly hot.
I've seen a few red feilds around as well. Love the ducks
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Must be great to live in an area where poppies grow wild!
ReplyDeleteI do love poppies....
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fields of poppies you have there. Adds such a brightness to the world.
ReplyDeleteCute birds!
ReplyDeleteThe only spot I know here that has poppies is on top of the War Museum.
Those poppies are just spectacular. Smart ducks. If only someone would throw a few ice cubes in there they be even happier!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. Great pictures of poppies that would look wonderful reproduced in thread.

Those poppies are beautiful. Hard to look at a photo of wildflowers without smiling, or at least feeling cheerful. I think those ducks have the right idea!
ReplyDeletePoppies are found in New England, but they seem to be fairly uncommon. Years ago I had poppies in a flower bed at a previous home and they were a delight.
