Earlier in the year I photographed the wonderful show of snowdrops at Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge. I was back there recently to admire the dahlias. Miserable grey weather was forecast but fortunately they couldn't have been more wrong!
There's a lot more to see besides dahlias of course and more posts will follow.....
Take care.
I adore dahlias in all their differing varieties/shapes and colours. How lovely to see masses of them like this at Anglesey Abbey. Looks like you had a field day with your camera.
ReplyDeleteI am not all thatkeen on dahlias John - they are too formal for me - but I must say that viewed close up they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIn general, I agree with The Weaver of Grass, but your images certainly are striking and sensuous, John.
ReplyDeleteFlower fireworks--I have never grown dahlias either--they don't do so well in our climate.
ReplyDeleteSuch photogenic flowers - I love that deep, deep red one.
ReplyDeleteThe dahlia photos would make stunning framed enlargements. I'm reminded of posters I've seen of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings--[I've never seen the originals]
ReplyDeleteDo you exhibit any of your photographs?
Wow, brilliant color and image design with these rich dahlia close-ups! They are like a dazzling fireworks display.
