Some of you may remember this mighty lion.
He appeared, rather shamefully wrapped in Christmas paper here.
But now,
in all his majesty,
we present the lion that so impressed a little boy
many years ago.
The great stone lion of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
Take care.
Oxfam Unwrapped was certainly a good attention grabber, and all for a good cause. A great monochrome and perspective John.
ReplyDeleteSeen from the same angle the small boy saw it, too. I'd have been impressed. In fact, I might still be impressed; the lions look massive.
ReplyDeleteThis lion looks very big. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous lion and a fantastically imposing angle of view. I can see why it is so impressive. By the way, yes, I always make it a point when visiting friends and relatives to photograph their garden chairs before we engage in any social activities. Astute observation John :^)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful beast. Definitely a king of the jungle.
ReplyDeleteHe looks rather gentle here
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child in Lincoln John, two lions sat at the top of a stone staircase in the Arboretum in Lincoln. I adored them and have a photo of myself, aged three, sitting astride one. I love all stone lions.
ReplyDeleteHe looks quite a merry lion! The stone lions of my childhood memories stand in Market Square in Nottingham outside the Council House. I remember dreaming that I was chased by one of them - I must only have been 8 or 9 years old:)
