Still Raining, Still Dreaming


During my damp dawdle the other day I noticed some new sculpture in front of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. It was an exhibition known as "Sculpture Promenade". You were encouraged to 'interact' with the pieces which I presume meant that you were allowed to touch. The rain gave everything a special shine and encouraged me to interact through my camera. Here are the results of my endeavours:

    Lovely account of the Sulpture Promenade John, and while I really enjoyed the bronze Tensei, Tenmoku, I also really liked those pineapple-etched granite pieces set on the lawn.

    The Helaine Blumenfeld sculptures are beautiful, and they look even more so with the rain falling on the soft curves. Beautifully shown all, and btw HUGE congrats for the first anniversary of YOUR blog on the 19th, sometimes it's quite a feat to post every day..or is that just me!

    I have to confess that modern sculpture does very little indeed for me - if I absolutely had to choose it would be the Solid Air pieces. I'd rather have Michelangelo's 'David' any day of the week - now that really is worth seeing.

    Interesting sculptures. I like the solid restfulness of Tensei, Tenmoku. Unfortunately, the Solid Air ones keep reminding me of dog chew toys so that kind of gets in the way. The granite rocks look like hedgehogs which is fun to me. Nice swishy movement to Cleopatra. As for the rain, hey, your English!
