glorious garden photos; loving the hollyhocks, after the showers
Yes John. In photographs the rain makes the flowers look exquisite. In practice it absolutely ruins them I find.
Rain makes flower shots even more beautiful.
What is the purple flower in the first and last pictures? The rain always refreshes the plants in a way that watering with a hose doesn't seem to.
It's a poppy and a rather big variety, though what kind I have no idea as it "arrived unannounced" a couple of years ago and self-seeds all over the place - mostly in all the wrong places! however as it's very obvious and easy to pull up it's a welcome addition.
The Foxglove looks a little forlorn, and yet still quite beautiful.
These are terrific, John. Arid any-part-of-Britain? You gotta be kidding me!
Beautiful, beautiful! I hate all this rain but I love the way the flowers look and you have captured it perfectly. The scent in the garden has been amazing too in this tropical fug! Jane xx
Such wonderful photos! The raindrops look like little jewels on the leaves and flowers. You had just the right amount of rain to refresh the plants without destroying them. Unfortunately the heavy rain in our region has ruined quite a few flowers in our garden.
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens". now you've got me singing that song. Lovely captures John ... I thought its supposed to be Summer over there!
Looks like it rained moderately. Plants get revived in the softly falling rain. I’m enjoying one-month long rainy season before summer comes with its full force.
Some people get that effect with a water spray.... frankly I've had enough rain to last me the rest of the year! But these are lovely photos.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'll try to answer any questions via a comment or e-mail within the next day or two (no hard questions, please!).
